The largest diamond ever found on earth is the magnificent Cullinan Diamond. Discovered near Pretoria in South Africa in 1905, the diamond in its rough state weighed a staggering 3,106 carats. Furthermore, the Cullinan has an extraordinary blue-white colour and exceptional clarity. After its discovery, the Cullinan was sent to world leading diamond cutters of the time Asschers of Amsterdam where it was cut into 9 main diamonds named I to IX, and 97 small brilliant diamonds.
